Hardanger Embroidery Exhibition. – Alexis de Tocqueville Association for saving Tocqueville's church

On the afternoons of the weekend of May 30 and 31, 2026, an exhibition of Hardanger embroidery was held at Saint Laurent Church in Tocqueville.
This type of embroidery is characterized by its counted-stitch technique and openwork patterns.
The pieces on display are the result of work done since 2019 by embroiderers mentored by Martine Le Flamanc, and some of the Hardanger items were offered for sale to benefit our association and will help fund future projects.

In brief

The goal of the Association is to help Tocqueville’s Municipality restore the church by bringing funds that come from donations and events earnings.

The Association et the Municipality have established a partnership with the “Fondation du Patrimoine”, a French organization in charge of savegarding heritage.

Each year the Association organizes several events, including a Book Fair on July 14th and a hike « in Alexis de Tocqueville’s footsteps » on the last saturday of July.

The annual membership fee is 5 euros.
