Located in the heart of the Val de Saire in Cotentin, the village of Tocqueville is proud to have had such an illustrious inhabitant Alexis de Tocqueville (1805-1859), writer, philosopher and politician, excellent visionary of the evolution of our democracies. He liked to stay at the castle where he wrote many of his works. He is buried near the church bell tower. It was appropriate to give his name to the Association that was created in 2009 for the saving of the church.
Since 2008, the church restoration works have been undertaken by Tocqueville’s Municipality, with the support of our Association, and are still going on.
The posts will inform you of the works progress and also describe the Association’s activities .
