Our Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday April 27. It was opened by our President Denis ONFROY, who recalled the close and constructive relationship that has existed for 15 years between the Association and the municipality, represented by Chantal DUCOURET, Mayor, and member of the Board of Directors.
The AGM continued with a reminder of the work already carried out in the church, amounting to a total of €260,000 (inc. VAT); this mainly concerned the repair of the roof and bell tower, the restoration of the stained glass windows, the installation of new interior lighting, the restoration of the listed painting “The Sacrifice of Abraham”, and the restoration of the high altar with its altarpiece and its large painting “The Resurrection”.
In 2023, new work has been undertaken to restore the church’s walls and floor to reduce damages of dampness. This work, costing €230,000 including tax, is due to be completed by the end of June 2024.
Our Association, with some sixty members, organizes its traditional events every year, which will be repeated in 2024: Book Fair on July 12, 13 & 14 and the discovery walk “In the footsteps of Alexis de Tocqueville” on Saturday July 27.
In accordance with the company’s bylaws, one-third of the 12-member Board of Directors was renewed. The Board then re-elected the executive committee: Denis Onfroy, Chairman; Jean Guillaume de Tocqueville, Vice-Chairman; Pierre Anthouard, Secretary; Martine Le Flamanc, Treasurer; Martine Lemoigne, Assistant Treasurer; Jean François Halley and Stéphane Le Flamanc, members.
The morning ended with a friendly drink offered by the Association.
All this work can only be undertaken with the support of the French State, the Département, the Fondation du Patrimoine and your donations. The website dedicated to the Tocqueville church project: www.fondation-patrimoine.org/2244 allows you to make online, tax-free donations.
On this site you’ll find the membership form for 2024; the annual subscription remains fixed at 5€. This form also allows you to donate directly to the Association, but without any tax benefits.
At the close of the meeting, President Denis Onfroy officially presented a cheque for €20,000 to Chantal Ducouret, Mayor of Tocqueville, to help finance the work in progress, in accordance with the partnership agreement signed with the Commune de Tocqueville.
